John stars in A Cup Of Love will premiere over 8TV

30 June 2009 - NEW Chinese drama series A Cup Of Love will premiere over 8TV,starting this Sunday 5 July 2009.

The 15-episode series, which airs at 8.30pm, features a strong cast comprising Duncan Lim, Hishiko, John Wee, Rickman Seah, Adrian Chen, Kay, Chris, Cheryl, Wu Jia Run (Yoon) and Sammi Chong.

There will also be special appearances by well-known artistes throughout this series including Milk (Taiwanese singer and Ultimate Power Group judge), Orange (8TV Ho Chak host) and Pei Pei (a popular emcee).

8TV chief executive officer Ahmad Izham Omar explains: “Here's another drama series that feature some of our talented idols. A Cup of Love is a touching drama series that features a group of workers of a cafe and, of course, the drama that surrounds them. A Cup of Love takes place in a cafe called Cup of Love.”

As its business is not improving, the owner, Gu Dai Ren, decides to hire a few individuals. They include Li Chang Jun (John Wee), a motivated manager; Dragon L (Rickman), a witty character; and Yito (Duncan Lim), a young teenager with a wealthy family background.

One day, Yito bumps into his childhood sweetheart Kopi Ais (Hishiko), a smart and pleasant girl while giving away free cups of coffee at a shopping mall. Yito has always dreamt of getting back together with her but his ego has always prevented him from doing so. To Yito's surprise, Kopi Ais is hired to work at the same cafe as him. However, conflicts arise when Kopi Ais shows interests in Li Chang Jun. Dragon L, also a “playboy” himself, attracts many girls to the cafe but has never found the one he is interested in.

One day, the cute and innocent Yiki (Yito’s younger sister) walks into the cafe. Another waiter joins the team and creates more drama. Di Di, a talented violin player with a secretive family background, is forced by his mother to work there due to an incident. Due to Di Di's uncommon background, he emerges as a silent hero. Throughout the series, the team faces many challenges but manages to stay united.

The series’ theme song is sung by John Wee and Cheryl Lee (8TV host of 8Style and I Wanna Be A Model).

A Cup of Love's main sponsor is new mobile operator XOX Sdn Bhd. The production set was sponsored by a cafe called Fairy’s Garden. Props such as the coffee machine and materials are sponsored by Classic Coffee and Beverages Sdn Bhd.
